THE AESTHETIC x WHITNEY VERMEER is the realization of Whitney’s vision to build a space that blends barber shop traditions and sense of community with the standards of contemporary salons to create an individualized groom experience for the modern man.
Set in the creative hub of Northeast Minneapolis, the studio itself reflects Whitney’s vision having served as historic warehouse but now serves as a collective of start-ups, creatives and other entrepreneurs. The vibe is urban and yet serene: high ceilings, awash in natural light, a full bar featuring craft cocktails and, sometimes, Whitney’s beloved Chihuahua and official studio mascot “Toby.”
Whitney’s work is incomparable and recognizable as seen on some of the city’s most fashionable and dapper men. And yet her talent has also been recognized by her peers and the industry when she was awarded the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) Men’s Hairstylist of the Year in 2017. NAHA is the most prestigious award in the hair industry. In addition, Whitney gained global recognition after receiving BTC #ONESHOT Men's Shot of the Year 2017.
Whitney believes that part of being an artist and professional is sharing your gifts with others. To that end, she has collaborated with companies such as Baxter of California owned by L’Oreal, Andis Clippers, and Mizutani Scissors and is continually traveling the country to enhance her own skills and services while learning from others.
As many of her clientele are creatives, THE AESTHETIC x WHITNEY VERMEER also serves as a collaborative and inspiring space for art exhibitions and programs that bring the community together.
